Other: He was also stationed at Apaiang, Gilbert Isles. from Nov. 18, 1857 through Sep. 8, 1865, and in the next 10 yrs. made several annual and two stopover visits from Honolulu to those islands. Since 1875 he labored in Honolulu for the Gilbertese nation and the colony in Hawaii. New Testament translation was finished, Apr. 11, 1873. Old Testament finished, Apr. 11, 1890. Revision and printing of the complete Bible finished, (N. Y.) Apr. 11, 1893. He also translated numerous other books, and a Gilbertese dictionary.
